#88–An overlooked reason why exercise is good for depression: properly applied pulling and extension exercises can reverse some of the postural aberrations which are common to the workplace environment and perpetuated by home place ergonomics and faulty gym work. Strengthening the external shoulder rotators and extensors of the body will help stand a person up straighter, lifting him or her out of an overly flexed position--one which too closely resembles a posture of a sadness. And this is critical as one cannot separate the physical from the mental and emotional.
