#214--When I raced in Europe, I always had my director sportif have a liter of chocolate milk waiting for me at the finish line. My teammates thought I was crazy. Basically, their study suggests that replacing 25 grams per liter of carbohydrate with milk protein in a carbohydrate-electrolyte sports drink can improve the rehydration ability of the drink by improving fluid retention when the drink is taken post-exercise. In other words, it appears that milk protein is more effective than carbohydrates in a sports drink, when rehydration is a primary consideration. Now if I can just get that milk full-fat, organic, and from sheep....
