365 Ways #222–Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Reflect

#222--Currently, we recycle only 27% of our trash. Each one of us produces 4 pounds of trash everyday, about 400 BILLION pounds per year. The EPA estimates that if we could increase the level of recycling in this country to just 35%, it would have the same effect in greenhouse gas emissions as if we removed 7 million cars from the road. So before you toss something in the trash, think about whether or not it could be recycled. It may not do anything to improve your commute. But it will definitely help us all breathe a bit easier.
