365 Ways #223–The best medicine

#223--The easiest Ironman I ever did was the World Championships in Hawaii. Even though I had bronchitis and a bacterial infection, I was just happy to be there. I truly could not wipe the smile off my face the whole day (9hrs and 50mins to be exact). In fact, when they do studies on perceived level of exertion, people who grimace work harder than people who put on a poker face.

Think about it. Mind is everywhere in the body. So if you're happy, every cell in your body is happy. If you're depressed, every cell in your body is depressed. Thus the quickest way to change your physiology for the better is to laugh. The average child laughs 400 times/day. An adult averages less than 4 chuckles.

So let me challenge you: Wake up tomorrow morning and begin laughing. Force it if you have to until it becomes real. Or go look at your hair in the mirror--that should do the trick. Now do it non-stop for 60 seconds.

You just set the tone for the day. And you didn't even need a prescription.
