#264--95% of the serotonin in the body is produced by cells that line the intestines. So anything which damages the gut wall and causes inflammation will destroy these cells. That's a recipe for constipation, as serotonin actually promotes peristalsis. Thus, it's safe to say the misnamed "feel good" hormone is actually better described as the "poop good" hormone. Stress, medical drugs, and alcohol are the usual suspects in damaging the intestines. But good old gluten is, too. So if you're unhappy and constipated, re-read the title of this post.
