#276--People in pain use more vitamins, minerals, etc than people without pain. For example, a person with a history of back pain may burn through twenty times the amount of Vitamin C as a person presenting with no symptoms. Thus, the longer a person has been injured or in a state of discomfort, the more nutritionally void they have become. These people are usually the ones who use a lot of caffeine or sugar to compensate for the lack of energy the constant pain has caused them. Unfortunately, this practice often displaces nutrition. Eating high quality, organic food is essential for them to heal, and even then supplementation may be necessary to replenish depleted levels of nutrients in the body.
