365 Ways #306–Seeking symmetry
#306--When stretching, always give more attention to the tighter side of the body. Think about it. If your left quad is tighter than your right quad and you stretch them both equally, what have you really accomplished? The left side is still tighter than the right. And the body doesn't mind tightness so much as imbalance. Because with the imbalance comes compensation, and with compensation comes injury. So do a few extra reps of dynamic stretching on the tighter side before your workout and 10-30 more seconds of static stretching on the tighter side as part of your cool down routine. With a bit more attention, you'll soon be balanced.
