365 Ways #308–Don’t be yellow. Go green!

#308--Did you know that 540 MILLION phone books, each weighing an average of five pounds, are delivered each year to people's homes? And less than 10% of them are recycled? That's a lot of paper going into landfills. 2,430,000,000 pounds every year to be exact. And I don't know about you, but I can't even remember the last time I used the yellow/white pages. If I need a phone number or address, I google it. So, I went to the following site and stopped all phone books from being delivered to my house.

It was simple. Though, ironically, it was easier to call the numbers provided than to use the web information to opt out of future phone book deliveries. And now, if you'll help me spread the word, we can cut down on the 19,000,000 trees destroyed and the 7,200,000 barrels of oil wasted each year to provide an obsolete manual that most people probably don't want.
