365 Ways #335–The Neck Test
#335--You've been consistent with your exercise program and it's finally become a habit. But now you're sick and you wonder: should you workout? Take the Neck Test. If your symptoms are above the neck with a runny nose or sinus congestion, then it's o.k. to exercise. But you need to be smart and back down both intensity and duration. If the symptoms are below the neck with aches, chest congestion, or fever, then complete rest is the prescription for recovery. So skip the workout, and don't worry about a decrease in performance. In general, you lose fitness at half the rate you gain it.
