#346--You cannot separate the physical from the mental. Proof of this fact can be found in an article from the the March 2010 issue of Human Brain Mapping (a.k.a. pleasure reading for nerds) entitled Brain Structure and Obesity. Researchers found that "obese subjects with a high BMI (BMI > 30) showed atrophy in the frontal lobes, anterior cingulate gyrus, hippocampus, and thalamus compared with individuals with a normal BMI (18.5–25)." Additionally, atrophy in both the basal ganglia and the corona radiata were seen in subjects considered overweight (BMI: 25–30). Shrinking heads and growing bellies--it's not a good look.
