If you can't eat it, DON'T put it on your body!

Check ALL of your personal care products (lotions, shampoos, soap, perfume, deodorants, etc) for any of the following:

Alcohol or Isopropyl SD-40 (found in a variety of personal care products, antifreeze, and shellac)--choose products made with water.

All FD&C and D&C colors (found in food as well as almost any personal care products)--choose products made with annatto, beta-carotene, or henna.

Formaldehyde (a preservative found in nail polish, shampoo, soap, and cadavers...)--choose products made with grapefruit seed extract, Vitamin A, C, or E. 

Lead (found in hair dyes/colors)--choose products made with cochineal, henna, indigo, walnut.

Nitrosamines such as DEA, TEA, MEA, Bronopol, octyl dimethyl PABA, and sodium lauryl sulfate (found in shampoos, conditioners, shaving creams, and sunscreens).

Parabens including Butyl, Ethyl, Methyl, and Propyl (found in many personal care products)--choose products with aloe vera or grapefruit/grape seed extract. 

Phenylenediamines (found in hair dyes)--choose products made with cochineal, henna, indigo, walnut.

Phthalates (found in just about any personal care product and in plastics)

Propylene Glycol (found in just about any personal care product as well as antifreeze and brake fluid which the FDA mandates should only be handled with protective clothing)--choose products made with aloe vera, glycerine, or liposomes.

Quarternary Ammonium Compounds such as benzalkonium chloride, cetrimonium bromide, and quaternium 1-29 (found in cosmetics, fabric softener, and skin products).

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate--actually inhibit hair growth...(found in 90% of commercial shampoos, body washes, and toothpastes or just about anything that lathers)--choose products made with ammonium cocoyl istheionate.

Synthetic Fragrences (found in many scented products)--choose products made with essential oils or natural fragrances.

Talc (found in antiperspirants, cosmetics, and talcum powder--choose products made with baking soda or cornstarch.
